Mali🇲🇱 has started constructing its first gold refinery.
After decades of shipping raw gold abroad, the country is now building its first-ever refinery with the power to process 200 tons a year.
Backed by Russian and Swiss partners but 62% owned by Mali, this project keeps more wealth at home and aims to turn Mali into West Africa’s gold hub within 2 years.
